Sightseeing: Daranak Falls in Tanay, Rizal

Daranak Falls
Tanay in the province of Rizal is a home of many natural attractions. One of the attractions is the numerous waterfalls. The most popular is the Daranak Falls. It is 14 meters high and almost 40 foot deep catch basin that serves as a natural pool. It is also picture perfect for postcards.

How to get there?

From Edsa Crossing at Mayflower parking lot, ride a van for 70 pesos or jeep going to Tanay. Alight at Tanay Market at Brgy. Sampaloc and ride a tricyle going to Daranak Falls for 200 pesos (one way) good for 4 persons. There are also van and jeep in StarMall Edsa corner Shaw Blvd., near MRT Shaw Blvd., Station. Don't forget to get the tricycle driver's number and ask him to fetch you in the afternoon because on weekdays or ordinary days (not summer) the tricycles are few. Travel time is approximately 2 to 3 hours but if you have private car travel time is only 1 hour from Edsa Boulevard. We left 7AM and arrived there at 8AM.

Daranak Falls and Natural Resort is open daily from 8AM to 5PM except on bad weather. Entrance fee is 50 pesos for adult and children, picnic shed is 300 pesos, picnic table is 200 pesos and 50 pesos for parking fee. All alcoholic beverages are not allowed. You can bring your cooked food but cooking is not allowed. There are also stores inside that are selling cooked food for a cheap price and snacks. For a non-swimmer like me they have inflatable life saver for rent for 40 pesos whole day.

Our photo ops....
This is the only picture we had at the entrance, the one who took this has mistakenly clicked the panorama feature
