A Weekend in Baguio: Dining experience

A weekend in Baguio can be turned into dining experience.

Andoks

Early in the morning we were starving and we choose the very first familiar restaurant that we've seen at Session Road, the Andoks Restaurant. Our breakfast was plain and simple, we had fried chicken, chopsuey and pancit and a cup of coffee. The chopsuey veggies were fresh and crisp and tastes good. The pancit has lot's of fresh veggies as well and they had big servings compared to Andoks branches in Manila and it was good too.
Pizza Volante Restaurant

For lunch, we tried the Pizza Volante Restaurant near Wright Park. It is said that it has the best tasting pizza in Baguio City. We ordered pizza margarita, grilled pork with rice and one extra rice, chili con carne pasta and coffee.

We asked how long it will take to serve the food and the waitress said 15mins for pasta and pizza and 30 mins for grilled pork. We had a number of follow-ups up to one hour before our orders have been served completly. They first served the coffee after we sat for 15 mins and it's warm not hot as we expected. After a couple of minutes, they served the utensils, another 15 minutes they served the grilled pork and another 15 minutes before they served the pizza. For our final follow-up for the pasta after 1 hour, the cashier told us that the waitress served it to the other costumers beside our table. And she asked us if we still want it and they will cook another serving. Really??? So we waited for another 15mins. We also had one serving only of the unlimited coffee that we ordered, and the extra rice never reached us.

The food tastes just okay, nothing special but they had a big serving of pasta.
The staffs are impolite.
And they gave us headache when they have service charge when their service sucks. I'll rate the service as 10 as the highest, they got 1/10.

I left a note
Safari Lodge Bar and Resto

After visiting the Botanical Garden, we came across to this place when we're waiting for a taxi going to Cafe by the Ruins. But we decided to check this out instead because we were very tired and hungry already, we walked from Wright Park up to the Mines View Park and we walked again from Mines View Park down to Botanical Garden.

We only had grilled chicken and nido soup with unlimited rice for 85 pesos only. The taste of the grilled chicken is similar to Mang Inasal. Sorry no photo, I forgot to take photos of it when it was served as I was very hungry already.

As the name itself this Lodge, Bar and Resto has a Safari woodland interiors. The amazing but quite scary preserved animals are displayed. I think it's a collection of the owner. The ambiance is very quite and homely. I will rate the service as 10/10.

the interior

Is the animal on the upper an alligator? and the bottom is a leopard? and under the leopard a monkey? I really don't know...
Is this a lion?

Good Taste

This restaurant is highly recommended by the locals. My sister's friend named Ate Bless (she works in Baguio City but she's a Bicolana too), treated us for lunch here after our strawberry picking on our second day in Baguio.

The place is like a big cafeteria and there are many customers eating here even we went here for late lunch. The menu selection is mostly consist of Chinese food like noodles. The food is very cheap and tastes good. We had pinakbet, chopsuey, lechon kawali, and pancit. I enjoyed the pinakbet so much. Pinakbet is the local dish of Ilocano that made of mixed vegetables steamed in fish or shrimp sauce. The serving is good for 3-4 persons. And as for the service I'll rate it 8/10.

Sorry I also have no photo of this place and the food as I was hungry already. I just realized that when I'm hungry, I forgot to take photos and I just attacked the food. :D
I'm thinking that on my next visit to Baguio it would be a food trip and I will make sure that I will have a more fun and good dining experience.
